CGCC-backed lending to Cambodian businesses reached $575.71 million
The May total is cumulative, not the size of the live loan book
CGCC's May factsheet recorded 9,841 guaranteed accounts and $575.71 million in guaranteed loans since the corporation began guarantee operations in April 2021. In its accompanying publication, CGCC described this as support provided to 9,841 businesses.
The same report gives a much smaller figure for loans still outstanding at the reporting date: $254.89 million. The outstanding guaranteed amount was $172.49 million, while the non-performing guarantee ratio stood at 9.57%.
Those numbers answer different questions. The $575.71 million figure is the accumulated value of loans approved under guarantee arrangements over several years; it is not the amount CGCC lent directly, nor the amount currently outstanding. For a business owner or financial analyst, keeping those figures separate changes how the programme’s scale and current exposure should be assessed.

Businesses still apply through participating lenders
CGCC provides guarantees rather than direct business loans. Financing is issued by participating banks and microfinance institutions, with the guarantee intended to reduce part of the collateral constraint for eligible borrowers.
A company therefore cannot treat the existence of a CGCC scheme as an approval in advance. The lender still assesses the proposed loan and the borrower's ability to repay, while the guarantee application must meet the rules of the relevant CGCC programme. Eligibility, guarantee coverage, documentation and other conditions differ between schemes.
For a company exploring financing, the practical starting point is to identify a participating lender and the scheme that fits its business profile. The headline programme total is useful context, but the outcome of an individual application depends on the current rules and credit assessment.
Later figures show the guarantee system continued to expand
The May snapshot has since been overtaken by newer official data. As of 31 August 2026, CGCC reported 10,623 guaranteed accounts, $610.66 million in guaranteed loans and a separate $30 million in guaranteed bonds.
That later report shows continued expansion after May, but it does not imply that credit became universally easier to obtain. The programme can reduce a collateral barrier for qualifying borrowers; it does not remove the lender's credit standards or the company's responsibility for repayment.
