Serei Sophorn–Poipet section of National Road 5 reaches 63% completion

The section runs through Banteay Meanchey province between Serei Sophorn and Poipet. Ministry technical officials inspected the works on July 10, while the reported 63% completion level referred specifically to progress achieved by the end of June.

This matters because the percentage is not a live measure of the road’s condition. The Serei Sophorn–Poipet stretch remains the unfinished final section of the wider National Road 5 upgrade, and the July update continued to point to 2027 as the planned completion year.

The ministry also urged motorists to keep speeds manageable while construction is underway. Its notice linked slower driving both to road safety and to reducing dust affecting communities along the route.
