Thailand’s BOI approved six major projects worth 958.168 billion baht
The approvals span Bangkok and several provinces in the central, eastern and north-eastern regions. For people assessing Thailand for business or specialist employment, the distinction is between BOI approval and the later stages of financing, permits, construction and commercial operation.
Data infrastructure dominates the approved value
TikTok System (Thailand) Co., Ltd. accounts for 842.350 billion baht of the package. The approved plan covers additional servers and data-storage and processing infrastructure in Bangkok, Samut Prakan and Chachoengsao. BOI also said the project includes digital-literacy and e-commerce training initiatives, but it did not publish a specific employment forecast for the investment.
Skyline Data Center and Cloud Services Co., Ltd., part of DAMAC Group, received approval for a 46.869 billion baht project in Chachoengsao with 200 MW of stated IT load. Bridge Data Centres IIO (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was approved for a 24.619 billion baht project in Chonburi with 134 MW of stated IT load.
Together, the three digital projects represent 913.838 billion baht, or roughly 95% of the six-project total. That concentration makes the announcement relevant to power capacity, network infrastructure and specialist skills, but it does not by itself establish future job numbers, property-price growth or local income gains.
For practical context, see Thailand economy and finance. This development also connects with Thailand BOI approves nine projects worth 66.32bn baht.
The other three projects cover recycling, wind power and potash
PureCycle (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was approved for an 8.180 billion baht polypropylene recycling project in Rayong. Later in May, the company said the project had also been admitted to Thailand FastPass, which is intended to coordinate and accelerate permitting across participating agencies. By August, PureCycle was still describing the Thailand facility as a future project, with operations expected in 2028 and project financing under negotiation.
Dan Khun Thot Wind One Co., Ltd. received approval for a 4.728 billion baht, 89.7 MW wind project in Nakhon Ratchasima. Wind Energy Holding later reported that the foundation-stone ceremony took place on 30 June 2026 and that commercial operation is scheduled for late 2027. The later milestone shows progress beyond the BOI decision, while also confirming that the plant was not yet operating.
ASEAN Potash Chaiyaphum Plc. accounts for the remaining 31.422 billion baht. Its Chaiyaphum project is intended to produce potassium chloride for potash fertiliser production. The May BOI decision confirms the promoted investment project; it should not be read as evidence that construction has been completed or commercial output has started.
FastPass is an acceleration mechanism, not proof of completion
At the same May meeting, BOI selected nine additional projects worth 52.104 billion baht for the second Thailand FastPass batch, taking the programme at that point to 25 projects worth 223.216 billion baht. The mechanism is designed to speed coordination with agencies responsible for industrial, environmental, customs, electricity and other approvals.
That difference matters when reading large investment announcements. An approved value records the scale of a promoted project, while actual spending and delivery depend on financing, permits, construction schedules and other specific to the project conditions.
Data-centre policy became stricter after the May approvals
In August, BOI said Thailand was tightening the screening framework for new data-centre investment, with more attention to power and water availability, environmental effects, local skills and broader economic benefits. The later policy work does not turn the May package into a completed investment; it also means the May approvals should not be treated as a fixed template for how future data-centre applications will be assessed.
For prospective workers and businesses, the signal is therefore geographic and sectoral: Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Chachoengsao, Chonburi and the Eastern region remain important locations to watch for digital infrastructure, while Rayong, Nakhon Ratchasima and Chaiyaphum have separate industrial projects moving on their own schedules.
