Angkor foreign visitor numbers fell 27.6% in the first nine months of 2026
The nine-month total remained well below 2025
Angkor Enterprise reported on 1 October that foreign visitor numbers at Angkor Archaeological Park fell 27.61% year on year during the first nine months of 2026. Ticket revenue for the period exceeded $24.2 million, a 25.90% decline from January–September 2025.
For Siem Reap, the figures are a useful gauge of international visitor demand around its best-known attraction. They provide context for accommodation, transport, tours and other local services, but the admissions data do not measure demand in any of those sectors directly.
For practical context, see Cambodia economy and finance. This development also connects with ADB Cuts Cambodia’s 2026 Growth Forecast to 3.9%.
September was much closer to last year's level
The park received about 35,535 foreign visitors in September, only 0.32% fewer than in the same month of 2025. Ticket revenue for the month increased 3.10% year on year to almost $1.7 million.
That does not reverse the large decline accumulated earlier in the year. It does, however, show that September did not repeat the same rate of contraction, so the year-to-date percentage and the latest monthly direction tell different parts of the story.
Angkor admissions are not a rental-market metric
The Angkor Enterprise figures cover foreign visitors to the archaeological park. They do not show domestic tourism, length of stay in Siem Reap, hotel or apartment occupancy, achieved room rates, or the returns of individual rental properties.
For landlords, hospitality operators and investors, the data can therefore serve as one demand signal rather than a direct estimate of rental income. Accommodation performance still needs separate evidence on stays, occupancy, seasonality and the relevant property segment.
