Cambodia sets out local price-label inspections and daily market reporting
Let’s explore this page together
Daily reports will track 64 goods
Municipal and district authorities are to collect retail prices from markets they designate and send the figures to capital or provincial commerce departments **by 10am**. A reporting form attached to the guidelines covers **64 product entries**, including food and household goods.
The figures record what products cost in those markets. They are not a list of compulsory selling prices, so a household planning its shopping budget still needs the actual prices of the goods it buys. A monitoring requirement offers no basis for assuming that next month’s spending will fall.
These duties appear in inter-ministerial guidelines No. 3644 from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Interior. The signed document is dated **9 October 2026** and provides for application from the date of signature. Fresh News published the scans on 16 October, followed by an official posting on the Kandal Provincial Department of Economy and Finance website on 17 October.

Monthly inspections focus on displayed prices
Local administrations are also instructed to plan and carry out monthly price-label inspections and explain the requirements to businesses. The measures specified for missing labels include explaining the rules and issuing a written warning.
The document calls for prices to be displayed in riel. Duty-free shops authorised by the government must submit a request to use foreign-currency price labels; that provision is not a general exception for ordinary sellers.
For shoppers, a clearly displayed price makes it easier to compare sellers and establish the cost before paying. Whether a particular market has already been inspected is a separate factual question. The publication of the guidelines does not establish that visits have taken place everywhere or that every seller is following the requirements.
