Cambodia registered 33 investment projects worth $525m in July

Event date

The projects were expected to support about 17,000 jobs if implemented as registered. Twenty-three projects went through the Council for the Development of Cambodia, accounting for about $494 million in stated capital and roughly 9,000 potential jobs. Another 10 projects, worth about $31 million and associated with around 8,000 potential jobs, were registered through the capital-provincial investment sub-committees.

A few large projects account for much of July’s headline value

The published list includes several capital-intensive projects. Among the most prominent were a 500 MW / 1,000 MWh energy-storage project valued at about $244 million and a 100 MW solar project worth about $62 million, both in Pursat province. Other examples included a roughly $41 million fish-farming and processing project in Kampong Thom, a $31 million gold-mining and processing project in Kratie and Kampong Thom, and a $15 million non-ferrous metal ore processing plant in the Koh Kong Zhejiang Special Economic Zone.

The CDC also said that investment capital in infrastructure and tourism had increased over the first seven months of 2026, while industry remained the leading sector for investment attraction. The July release does not provide a complete sector-by-sector breakdown for all 33 projects, so it should not be used to calculate precise shares for each sector.

Registered capital is not the same as money already spent

Registration records an approved project and its stated investment parameters. It does not show that the full amount has already been invested, that construction is complete or that every projected job already exists. For business owners and investors, the data are more useful as a signal of the types of projects entering Cambodia’s approved pipeline and the provinces where new activity may develop.

For residents and property buyers, the figures provide background instead of a direct housing-price forecast. A major infrastructure or industrial project can eventually affect employment, transport, services and local demand, but those effects depend on the project actually moving forward, its timetable and its specific location.

August data show why one month should not be read as a trend

A later CDC release reported 37 registered projects in August, but with a lower combined stated capital of about $233 million. Across the first eight months of 2026, approved fixed-asset investment reached roughly $5.45 billion across 346 projects.

That later update does not change the July figures; it puts them in context. Monthly totals can swing sharply when a small number of capital-intensive projects enter the register, so July’s $525 million is better read as one point in a broader series rather than proof on its own that the entire investment market accelerated.
