Cambodia Registers $470 Million in Projects for September 2026

Event date

Where the September investment was registered

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) handled 23 of the projects, representing approximately $435 million in planned investment and an estimated 11,000 jobs. Capital and provincial investment subcommittees registered another 13 projects, worth about $35 million and associated with a further 6,000 potential jobs. These figures were reported by state news agency Agence Kampuchea Presse, citing a CDC announcement.

Infrastructure and other activities accounted for about $258 million of the month's registered capital. Industry represented approximately $172 million, agriculture and agro-industry $29 million, and tourism $11 million. Cambodian investors supplied the largest reported share of registered capital, at 57.8%, followed by China at 28.66% and Malaysia at 6.52%.

The totals offer a snapshot of projects entering the investment pipeline. They are not figures for completed construction or verified capital expenditure. Businesses assessing potential demand should therefore distinguish the size of a registered project from procurement or operating activity that can already be demonstrated.

Two Pursat solar projects stand out, but delivery lies ahead

The September list includes proposed solar power plants in Krakor district, Pursat province. One is planned at 350 MW with investment capital of $225 million; the other is a 30 MW project valued at $33 million. Their combined planned capacity is 380 MW, with registered investment of $258 million.

For suppliers and contractors, the location and scale of these projects may help identify areas worth following. Neither the reported registration nor the announced capacity confirms that construction is underway, that electricity is being delivered to the grid, or that nearby customers will see lower tariffs. Those outcomes require separate evidence of implementation and operation.

The employment estimate of roughly 17,000 jobs likewise covers the entire September group, not existing vacancies. No project-by-project hiring timetable, occupational breakdown or wage information was provided in the cited reports. Anyone considering a business location or a move for work would need evidence from individual project developers and employers before relying on those projections.
