Phnom Penh to deploy 600 buses during Pchum Ben from Oct. 9–13
Five days of free provincial travel are planned
The arrangement was announced on Sept. 25 following a cabinet meeting. According to state news agency AKP, 500 buses are due to carry passengers from Phnom Penh to their hometowns and back free of charge over six main interprovincial routes.
The published announcement confirms the operating window and the fleet allocation, but it does not provide a complete timetable or every boarding point. Anyone planning to use the service will need the more detailed route information from the city administration once it is released.
As of Sept. 27, this remains an announced October service rather than a transport programme already in operation.
For practical context, see Cambodia market and country comparisons. This development also connects with Cambodia reports 10–21 days of fuel cover as imports continue.
Another 100 buses will stay on Phnom Penh services
The holiday deployment does not send the entire fleet out of the capital. One hundred buses are expected to continue normal public transport in Phnom Penh, including the express bus serving Techo International Airport.
The announcement confirms that these services are being retained, while exact departure times and boarding arrangements should still be checked separately closer to the travel date.
