Cambodia says local processed goods are being promoted through more than 23,000 overseas retail outlets

Event date

The 23,000 figure measures retail reach, not completed sales

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, citing the Ministry of Commerce, Cambodian processed products have been promoted through more than 23,000 large supermarkets and established mini-mart locations in international markets.

The ministry also reported 38 transactions and memoranda of understanding connected with the effort. The published statement does not break that total down between completed commercial transactions and MoUs, so the number should not be read as 38 fully executed export contracts.

The programme spans North America, Europe and Asia

The ministry named the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, China and ASEAN markets among the destinations involved. For Cambodian producers, access to established retail networks can reduce one of the hurdles to entering foreign markets, but store presence alone says little about sell-through, repeat orders or the revenue earned by an individual supplier.

AKP also cited Ministry of Commerce figures showing Cambodia exported US$24 billion of goods during the first eight months of 2026, up 19.7% from the same period a year earlier. That is a nationwide export total covering many industries, not a performance measure for the 23,000-outlet initiative, so the two figures should not be treated as evidence of the same result.

What businesses still need to know

For companies considering manufacturing or processing in Cambodia, the announcement is useful evidence that the government is continuing to build connections between domestic producers and overseas retail channels. The more decisive indicators would be shipment values, the number of participating Cambodian suppliers, repeat orders and how much of the retail footprint turns into sustained sales.

For residents and property buyers, there is no direct rule change or immediate property-market consequence in this announcement. Its relevance is broader: Cambodia is trying to strengthen exports of processed and branded products rather than relying only on lower-value or less processed goods.
