Cambodia shipped 568,912 tonnes of milled rice in five months

Event date

The federation released the five-month figures on June 5. Sixty-one exporters shipped Cambodian milled rice to 63 destinations. Paddy rice was reported separately, so its volume and estimated value should not be combined with the milled-rice numbers as though they described the same product flow.

ASEAN bought the most tonnes, while Europe generated more revenue

Five ASEAN markets received 208,593 tonnes of milled rice worth $87.32 million. China and its autonomous regions took 162,125 tonnes valued at $94.92 million, while 31 European countries imported 154,254 tonnes worth more than $105 million.

A further 43,940 tonnes, valued at $40.07 million, went to 24 other markets, including destinations in Africa and the Middle East. The split matters because shipment volume and export value do not move in identical proportions across regions; a larger tonnage does not automatically make a destination the higher-value market.

Fragrant rice accounted for nearly three-fifths of shipments

Fragrant rice made up 59.20% of Cambodia's milled-rice exports during the period. White rice accounted for 22.28%, broken rice for 15.58%, parboiled rice for 1.72%, organic rice for 1.04%, and other varieties for 0.18%.

Cambodia also exported more than 2.75 million tonnes of paddy rice during the same five months, with an estimated value of $591.41 million. That is a separate trade stream, and its value cannot be compared directly with milled-rice export revenue without considering processing, quality, logistics and contract terms.

Subsequent Cambodia Rice Federation figures showed milled-rice exports reaching 792,212 tonnes worth $464.17 million in the first eight months of 2026, across 66 destinations. The June report therefore remains valid for January-May, but it should not be presented as the current 2026 total.

For agribusiness operators and investors, the data show the scale and geographic spread of overseas demand. They do not establish farm-gate prices, exporter profitability or returns for a particular processing business; those questions require company-level costs, contracts and financing data.
