Agoda employs over 4,500 people in Thailand, with its largest office in Bangkok

Event date

The October announcement concerns an established office

The BOI released the figures following a meeting with Agoda chief executive Omri Morgenshtern and other executives at One Bangkok on 6 October. More than half of Agoda's worldwide workforce is based in Thailand: the agency puts its total global headcount at over 8,000 across 25 countries. Bangkok is the company's biggest office location within that international network.

Agoda had already announced the opening of its One Bangkok premises in April 2026. The October statement adds detail about the operation's size and its importance to the travel technology business, but it should not be confused with a new office opening or a commitment to create 4,500 additional positions.

Bangkok-based teams develop technology used internationally

Software engineering, algorithms, artificial intelligence and data analysis are among the functions the BOI identifies at Agoda's Thai operation. Work produced there supports the company's booking platform across global markets. The office also accommodates product, marketing and international business teams; it is considerably more than a local sales or customer-service outpost.

Of the more than 4,500 employees in Thailand, over half are Thai nationals, while approximately 2,000 are international staff from more than 80 countries, according to the BOI. The breadth of that workforce may interest experienced professionals considering Bangkok for a long-term move, although headcount alone says nothing about which teams are currently recruiting.

Employment and relocation still depend on the individual offer

The investment agency says immigration and employment authorities support visa and work-permit processes for Agoda specialists through the Thailand Investment and Expat Service Center (TIESC) at One Bangkok. That is an administrative channel for eligible cases, not automatic permission for any overseas applicant to take a job in Thailand.

Prospective employees still need to establish the terms of a specific role, including any relocation assistance and requirements to attend the office. Those details affect both the practicality of a move and where to rent a home. The BOI announcement offers no evidence of a general rise in technology salaries or rents around the office.
