Thailand BOI approves 48 business and workforce projects
THB 1.033bn targets business upgrades across six sectors
Seventeen Thai-company projects were approved under the Business Transformation measure, with total support of THB 1.033 billion. The projects span agriculture, food processing, biotechnology, medical industries, automotive parts and defence-related manufacturing.
BOI described upgrades ranging from automation and robotics to artificial intelligence, data analysis, higher-value products and greener production systems. Those examples show what the approved projects are intended to finance; they do not establish that every participating company will achieve the same productivity, cost or environmental outcome.
The June round also approved 31 Skill Bridge projects involving companies and education or training providers, with THB 1.465 billion in support. Those projects were expected to develop skills for 49,300 people.
At that point, BOI said earlier approvals brought the Skill Bridge total to 35 supported projects and a planned 66,500 trainees. The fields listed by BOI included digital technology, advanced electronics, electric vehicles and batteries, robotics, agriculture and biotechnology, higher-value food processing, medical technology and defence-related skills.
BOI said projects were assessed on curriculum standards, their connection to industry, the organiser's experience and expertise, and its capacity to deliver training. For workers or students, the announcement is therefore a useful signal about skill areas being supported, not a promise of admission to a particular course or a job afterwards.
For practical context, see Thailand economy and finance. This development also connects with Thailand BOI approves 55 new business and skills projects.
Approval does not mean an immediate payout or a job guarantee
The June releases describe projects whose support was approved. They do not say that the entire THB 2.498 billion was paid out on the decision date, and they do not provide a basis for treating participation in training as guaranteed employment.
BOI approved additional projects later in the year. The June figures of 35 Skill Bridge projects and 66,500 planned trainees should therefore be read as a June snapshot rather than a current cumulative total by September.
