Badung outlines Rp16.4bn housing assistance programme for 439 homes
In brief: Badung officials held a ceremonial handover of housing assistance on 12 October 2026. The programme is reported to cover 439 homes this year, but the announcement does not establish that all construction and repairs are complete.
The event took place in Sembung village, Mengwi district, and focused on housing for low-income residents. Under the Bantuan Rumah Layak Huni (BRLH) programme, support can cover a new home or improvements to an existing one. Funding is shared between the Badung administration, Indonesia's national budget and regional bank BPD Bali.
Most of the funding comes from Badung's own budget
The district has earmarked Rp12.785 billion for 307 properties. Its housing department divides that portion into 143 new builds, with assistance of Rp55 million each, and 164 home upgrades at Rp30 million each.
Another Rp1.92 billion comes from BPD Bali's corporate social responsibility programme, covering 44 properties: 24 extensive rebuilds and 20 partial repairs. The national BSPS housing assistance scheme accounts for Rp1.72 billion, supporting 86 homes at Rp20 million apiece. These allocations fund different kinds of work and should not be mistaken for a standard cash payment available to every household.
There is an unresolved discrepancy in the published breakdown. The three reported groups add up to 437 homes, two fewer than the announced total of 439. The figures supplied in coverage of the handover do not identify the missing category, although the three funding amounts do add up to Rp16.425 billion.
Eligibility and completion still require clarification
Officials describe BRLH as assistance for low-income residents of Badung. The October ceremony was a symbolic distribution event; it was not a completion report for 439 refurbished or newly built homes. The available announcements also do not provide a full application guide or establish that foreign owners or tenants qualify. Eligibility would need to be confirmed through the responsible local authority under the applicable rules.
The administration has floated a higher grant for new construction in future years, moving from Rp55 million to more than Rp70 million. It has also asked the housing department to consider including facilities such as kitchens and toilets in the 2027 programme. Neither proposal should be read as a current entitlement.
