Nighttime diversions announced for Jalan Kunti II near Seminyak

In brief: Traffic restrictions were announced for Jalan Kunti II from 1 October to 1 November 2026 while drainage work takes place. The planned closure window is 10 pm to 6 am Bali time, but the arrangement for any particular night may depend on the work under way.

People travelling between Seminyak and West Denpasar after dark may need to rethink their usual route. Jalan Kunti II is a local connection used by residents, villa guests, delivery drivers and taxis, so even a temporary closure can affect the last part of a journey home.

On 1 October, I Nyoman Sudira, a traffic official with the Denpasar Transportation Agency, confirmed to detikBali that excavation by a Badung regency government department was behind the planned restriction. Reporters at the site still saw cars, motorcycles and small goods vehicles using the road during the day. No round-the-clock closure of the entire connection was announced.

The announced hours — and what remains unconfirmed

The published schedule covers the period from 1 October through 1 November, with diversions planned between 22:00 and 06:00 WITA (UTC+8). The overnight work concerns drainage improvements on a road that has repeatedly flooded. Reporting published by The Bali Observer on 3 October also described road-raising work intended to reduce future inundation.

One qualification deserves attention. At the time of the original announcement, Denpasar officials said they had not yet received the full operational details from the Badung Transportation Agency. That leaves room for changes to the exact traffic arrangement as construction progresses. A stated end date is helpful for planning, but it is not a verified reopening time for every access point.

Routes via Kerobokan or Sunset Road

For traffic heading from Denpasar towards Seminyak, detikBali described options via Jalan Teuku Umar and Jalan Gunung Tangkuban Perahu, or towards Kerobokan Prison and onward along southern Jalan Raya Kerobokan to Sunset Road. Travellers going the other way can consider Sunset Road, Jalan Nakula and Jalan Imam Bonjol as another approach to West Denpasar.

These are reported diversion options, not live navigation instructions. Smaller streets may have separate access controls and the final approach to a home or business could change between nights. Anyone arranging an airport pickup, a late delivery or a taxi to rented accommodation should allow extra time and confirm where the vehicle can actually stop.

The project addresses a real drainage problem, but the construction announcement does not establish that flooding has been eliminated. Drivers should follow signs and traffic officers at the site, particularly if their navigation app continues to suggest Jalan Kunti II as the shortest route.
