Koh Norea–Arey Ksat bridge contract signed, with work planned for early 2027

Event date

A contract signed on 16 October

Reports published by IPS Cambodia and Kampuchea Thmey on 17 October put the signing on 16 October 2026. TP Moral Group contracted Zhejiang Huaxin for construction, with Zhejiang Design Institute named for supervision. Public Works and Transport Minister Peng Ponea attended the ceremony.

Those reports describe the agreement and ceremony; they do not reproduce the contract.

A separate route to the eastern bank

The planned crossing runs between Koh Norea in Phnom Penh and the Mekong Quay development in Arey Ksat, Kandal province. This is a separate scheme from the Cambodia–Korea Friendship Bridge, whose route passes through Chroy Changvar. Construction & Property News described the two projects separately in its 10 June 2026 report.

Early 2027 is the target for groundbreaking

The timetable reported by IPS Cambodia and Kampuchea Thmey concerns the start of construction. The October IPS report gives no completion date, construction cost or final technical specifications.

An additional river crossing could widen the choice of routes for eastern-bank residents once it opens. Anyone considering a move or a long lease in the coming months still needs a workable journey to work, school or healthcare using the routes available today.
