Cambodia logged 8,357 job openings in three central provinces
The figure was reported on June 1 by Agence Kampuchea Presse, citing the labour ministry. The openings covered agriculture, industry and services, giving a broader view of hiring outside Phnom Penh rather than a single-factory recruitment drive.
Hiring demand covered three major parts of the economy
The ministry's vacancy material included employers, sectors and contact details for applicants. It was designed in part to help Cambodian migrant workers returning from Thailand reconnect with domestic employers, while the same opportunities were also open to local jobseekers.
That matters because a return home often involves more than finding any available role. A job in the right province can reduce the need for another move, but the headline total does not show pay, contract terms, working hours or whether a position matches a worker's skills.
For practical context, see Cambodia economy and finance. This development also connects with Cambodia reported 4,676 jobs across four northeast provinces.
The May count was higher than the April snapshot
For the same three provinces, the ministry had reported 6,861 vacancies as of April 13. The May 30 snapshot was 1,496 positions higher.
That difference does not represent 1,496 newly created permanent jobs. Vacancy lists are fluid: employers fill roles, withdraw them and advertise new ones, so the two figures are better treated as dated measures of recruitment demand than as a cumulative job-creation series.
Later employment activity confirms that Cambodia continued running job-matching programmes for returned migrant workers. The International Labour Organization reported that an August 11 employment forum in Battambang offered 1,000 opportunities alongside skills and social-protection support. That was a different event in a different location, so it does not establish that the May vacancies in the three central provinces were still available.
Someone searching now should use the latest listings and employment services from the labour ministry and the National Employment Agency. For relocation planning, the June report is most useful as evidence that employers in these provinces were actively recruiting across several sectors at the end of May 2026.
