Cambodia's first Supply Chain Forum brings local businesses closer to buyers and distributors
Buyers, distributors and finance providers were in the same room
The one-day forum brought together businesses from multiple points in the domestic supply chain, including farmers, producers, processors, MSMEs, distributors, potential buyers, retailers and digital platforms. Government agencies, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, business associations and financial institutions also took part.
Commerce Minister Cham Nimul described the event as the ministry's first initiative of its kind. The stated goal was to reduce coordination gaps between the businesses that produce goods and the companies and institutions that process, finance, distribute and purchase them.
The programme included business matchmaking, G2B2B and B2B speed networking, company presentations and sessions on raw-material sourcing, branding and packaging. For a small producer, the practical opportunity is direct access to organisations that are often difficult to approach separately.

The forum also connected firms with public business services
Participants were offered information and consultations on business registration, trademark registration, certificates of origin, product registration and Cambodian Halal certification. Those services matter for companies trying to move from informal or limited sales into larger retail and distribution channels.
The forum also promoted locally made goods through the Made in Cambodia campaign. The Ministry of Commerce said the campaign has involved 741 supermarkets, malls, marts and mini-marts nationwide. That network may create more points of contact for Cambodian products, although participation in a national promotion campaign does not by itself guarantee a commercial listing or sales agreement.
A national exhibition is a possibility, not a confirmed next stage
The Ministry of Commerce framed the September event as a pilot. Cham Nimul said positive results could support consideration of a National Supply Chain Exhibition in future years.
For businesses, the useful distinction is between a new networking channel that has now been tested and a permanent support mechanism that does not yet exist. The longer-term value will depend on whether the pilot produces follow-up events, repeat buyer connections and more structured ways for smaller firms to reach finance and distribution partners.
