Odyssey begins five-day Cambodia call with 236 passengers
The ship docked at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port at 8:30 a.m., according to Agence Kampuchea Presse, citing local immigration officials. It is also carrying 166 crew members from 20 countries, while passengers from the United States, Australia and Canada make up the largest national groups on board.
Part of the visit extends inland to Siem Reap
The five-day call is designed to give passengers time beyond the port area. Planned activities in and around Sihanoukville include coastal sites, cultural attractions, pagodas and fishing villages.
Thirty-two passengers continued from the port to Siem Reap, while 38 travellers coming from Siem Reap are expected to join the ship before departure. That makes this call relevant to more than the coastal tourism economy alone: some visitor spending and transport demand can move inland as part of the same itinerary.
Under the official schedule, Odyssey is due to leave for Thailand at 7:00 p.m. on September 29. The departure is still a scheduled event rather than a completed one.
For practical context, see Cambodia market and country comparisons. This development also connects with Cambodia tyre exports hit $1.72bn in first nine months of 2026.
A single cruise call does not establish a rental trend
A five-day stop gives passengers more time to spend money away from the ship than a short port call would. For tour operators, transport providers, restaurants and other visitor-facing services, the arrival creates a defined burst of demand around one group of travellers.
For property owners or buyers, however, the useful conclusion is narrower. A group of 236 passengers does not show that Sihanoukville's wider visitor economy has entered a sustained recovery, and it provides no direct evidence that apartment rents or occupancy have changed. Repeated cruise calls, accommodation data and actual rental performance would be more relevant before drawing conclusions about the property market.
