Cambodia sets 22 public holiday days for 2027
The government record identifies the measure as Sub-Decree No. 194, covering the 2027 working-holiday calendar for civil servants, employees and workers. The total rises from 21 public holiday days in 2026 to 22 in 2027.
The official calendar runs from January to December
The 22 holiday dates are:
- January 1 — International New Year’s Day; - January 7 — Victory Day over the Genocide Regime; - March 8 — International Women’s Day; - April 14–16 — Khmer New Year; - May 1 — International Labour Day; - May 14 — King Norodom Sihamoni’s Birthday; - May 20 — Visak Bochea Day; - May 24 — Royal Ploughing Ceremony; - June 18 — Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk’s Birthday; - September 24 — Constitution Day; - September 29–30 and October 1 — Pchum Ben Festival; - October 15 — Commemoration Day of the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk; - October 29 — Coronation Day of King Norodom Sihamoni; - November 9 — Independence Day; - November 12–14 — Water Festival; - December 29 — Peace Day in Cambodia.
February, July and August have no national public holiday dates in the approved calendar. For people living in Cambodia year-round, that makes the list useful well beyond tourism: it gives an early framework for leave, appointments, family plans and domestic travel.
For practical context, see Cambodia economy and finance. This development also connects with Cambodia: 24 casinos halt online gambling after deadline.
Three festival periods create the longest breaks
Khmer New Year runs from April 14 to 16, Pchum Ben from September 29 to October 1, and the Water Festival from November 12 to 14. Each creates a three-day national holiday period, and the first two sit largely within the working week in 2027.
That does not mean every private business or service will follow exactly the same opening pattern. Banks, schools, clinics and individual companies can issue their own operating notices, so anyone arranging a time-sensitive appointment or payment should confirm the relevant institution’s schedule closer to the date.
**Continuous operations still have separate labour rules**
Employers whose activities cannot simply stop on a public holiday need to consider Cambodia’s labour rules as well as the annual calendar. Current rules on paid public holidays address advance arrangements with affected employees and compensation where holiday work is required.
This distinction matters for sectors such as hospitality, healthcare and continuous production. A date being listed as a national public holiday does not, by itself, prove that a particular workplace or service will be closed for the entire day.
