Chao Phraya Express Boat fares, routes and the timetable now in use
For people living along the river in Bangkok or Nonthaburi, the express boat can function as part of a normal commute rather than a sightseeing option. The key point is to separate the date of the timetable from the date of the fare: the service pattern is still presented under the 24 June schedule, while prices have moved since then.
Four flag services cover different stretches of the river
The operator lists the Orange service between Nonthaburi and Wat Rajsingkorn, the Yellow service between Nonthaburi and Sathorn, the Green-Yellow service between Pakkret and Sathorn, and the Red service between Nonthaburi and Sathorn. Each service has its own operating pattern and stops, so the flag colour alone is not enough to plan a trip.
The timetable page is labelled as effective from 24 June 2026. Commuters should still check the departure that matches their day and pier before leaving, particularly when the river service is being used to connect with BTS, MRT or another fixed appointment.
For practical context, see How to buy property in Thailand. This development also connects with Bangkok floods put resilience higher on homebuyer checklists.
Current fares reflect the 21 August increase
The operator’s current fare table already reflects a later change from June. Chao Phraya Express Boat raised all of its fares by THB 1 from 21 August after a rise in diesel prices, and the current service page displays the post-increase amounts.
The Orange Line is THB 18 flat and the Yellow Line is THB 23 flat. On the Green-Yellow Line, Pakkret to Nonthaburi costs THB 16, Nonthaburi to Sathorn THB 23, and Pakkret to Sathorn THB 35. The Red Line between Nonthaburi and Sathorn is THB 32.
A one-baht adjustment is minor on a single journey, but the operator has changed fares more than once in response to fuel costs. Anyone using the boat regularly is better served by the live operator information than by an older transport guide or saved fare table.
Oriental Pier is still listed as out of service
The operator currently marks Oriental Pier (N1) as closed for renovation because the pier is damaged. A journey that normally starts or ends there therefore needs a different boarding point and extra time for the land connection.
This matters when judging how useful river access really is from a home or rental. The practical question is whether a working pier, the right boat service and the final destination line up with the person's daily route; being close to the river is only one part of that calculation.
