Thailand’s 44 southern projects: which measures are funded and which still need budget approval
The decision followed a workshop on development priorities for the five southern provinces. The government separated work that it described as ready for urgent implementation from a much larger group of policy proposals requiring further support. For residents and businesses, the difference matters because the delivery status of a drainage scheme, hospital or road project can differ substantially even when all of them appear under the same regional package.
The 44 urgent projects are separate from the THB 62.3bn proposal list
The urgent group consists of 44 projects with a stated budget of THB 1,269.02 million. Agencies were told to take the workshop resolutions forward through their operating plans and the relevant funding procedures.
A second group contains 59 policy proposals valued at THB 62,336.44 million. These require further government support and should not automatically be taken as an already authorised spending programme. The wider agenda spans economic measures, social services, security and disaster management, with individual projects sitting at different stages of readiness.
**Three disaster-related measures have a confirmed THB 67m allocation**
The cabinet approved THB 67 million from the central emergency and contingency budget for three specific measures: THB 25.9 million for drainage improvements in Hat Yai Municipality, THB 21.1 million for disaster-prevention and mitigation capacity in Khuan Lang Municipality, and THB 20 million for a temporary disaster shelter in Pattani.
Other prominent items still involve additional decisions. The Transport Ministry was instructed to consider funding for dredging the navigation channels at Songkhla and Pattani ports to roughly 9–10 metres. The Public Health Ministry was told to accelerate design and construction work for Hat Yai Hospital II, with a THB 250 million budget figure and the possibility of seeking central funds if existing resources are insufficient. A separate highway restoration plan covers 45 projects with a THB 835.8 million framework, subject to reviews of readiness, suitability and inclusion in annual plans before budget requests are made.

Delivery milestones will matter more than the package headline
For households around Hat Yai, drainage capacity and the timetable for additional hospital infrastructure are the parts most likely to affect everyday life. Businesses in Songkhla and Pattani may care more about port access, border procedures and financing measures. None of those benefits should be treated as delivered simply because the cabinet has endorsed the broader direction.
The next meaningful signals will be project-level budget approvals, procurement or construction schedules, and evidence that work has actually started. Until then, the package is best understood as a mix of funded measures and government-backed priorities that remain at different stages of execution.
