Pattaya selects designer for Wong Amat stormwater and wastewater system
The procurement has moved into the design stage
The city published the design procurement on 18 June and followed with a winner announcement on 15 July. The official scope is for detailed design of stormwater drainage and wastewater collection in the Wong Amat Beach area.
That is a tangible step beyond a broad infrastructure intention because the procurement process has produced a selected bidder for the design work. The winner notice, however, does not provide a construction start date, an opening date or evidence that a finished drainage system is already available to the neighbourhood.
For practical context, see Living in Thailand. This development also connects with Phuket Town flood diversion works pass 70% completion.
How residents and property buyers should read the update
For people living in Wong Amat, renting there or considering a home in the area, the announcement is useful as an early signal of municipal infrastructure preparation. Drainage and wastewater collection affect how streets and surrounding areas cope with heavy rain, but a design award does not by itself change current conditions on the ground.
A property decision should therefore still be based on the building and access conditions that exist today. The city project may become a relevant future improvement, but construction would require a further stage with its own approvals, procurement and timetable.
