Economic indicator glossary
An economic term is useful only when it leads to the right next question. This glossary does not turn indicators into ‘buy signals’; it explains what they measure and where they must stop.
How do you avoid confusing a metric with a conclusion?
Every indicator has a measured object, period and geography. GDP relates to a provincial economy, inflation to change in the general price level for a defined basket, arrivals to visitors by entry gate, and JISDOR to a USD/IDR reference benchmark. None answers by itself whether a particular property should be bought.
The short answer
Before any figure, ask: what does it measure, when, where and what does it not measure? If the answer does not connect the metric with rights, address, records and the selected transaction's terms, it is context, not a case for buying.
Evidence scope
- Checked on
- 2026-10-15
- Established
- GDP, inflation, arrivals and JISDOR measure different objects, periods and scales.
- Not established
- Price, right, return, permission or suitability of a particular asset.
Period changes meaning
Quarterly GDP, monthly arrivals and a daily reference rate cannot be read as one timeline. First retain period, publication date and comparison basis. Then decide whether a fresher source or data for the asset itself is needed.

- Number of Monthly Foreign Visitor to Bali by Gate, 2026
- JISDOR, Non-USD/IDR Reference Rate, and Transaction Rate
Scale changes applicability
A provincial metric does not become an area metric, and an area answer does not become an address answer. The closer a decision gets to payment, the less broad context matters and the more asset records matter.
Translate a term into a question
Instead of ‘GDP is growing — what should I buy?’, ask ‘what is changing in the selected location and how is it evidenced?’. Instead of ‘the rate is good — should I transfer?’, ask ‘what are the contract formula, quote, fee and recipient?’. Instead of ‘there are many tourists — will there be income?’, ask ‘what data exists for the exact address, format and costs?’. That stops a metric from becoming decoration.
