Kuehne+Nagel Targets More Than Triple CFS Capacity in Cambodia by June 2027

Event date

The September 21 interview is an update on a project the company had already announced on August 13. It should not be read as the date construction began; the newer interview mainly explains the business case behind the expansion and reiterates the planned scale.

More than 20,000 sqm, with completion targeted for June 2027

The new Container Freight Station, or CFS, is being developed in Phnom Penh for cargo consolidation and handling. Kuehne+Nagel says the warehouse will provide more than 20,000 sqm of space and is scheduled to be completed in June 2027.

Once operational, the company expects the facility to more than triple its CFS capacity in Cambodia. The project is located at the TEC Srun Dry Port and is intended to support domestic cargo movements as well as regional flows connected with Thailand and Vietnam.

Kuehne+Nagel's August announcement also described a raised-floor warehouse with loading doors and dock levellers. The planned specifications include solar panels, LED lighting, battery-powered forklifts and rainwater-management systems.

Manufacturing cargo is central to the expansion case

In the September interview, Kuehne+Nagel linked the investment to demand from garments, footwear, travel goods, electronics and a broader mix of manufacturing activity. The company said customers increasingly need faster cargo handling, efficient consolidation and logistics capacity that can grow with trade volumes.

Those expectations are the company's own assessment of the market. They explain why Kuehne+Nagel is investing, but they should not be treated as an independent forecast of future trade volumes or guaranteed utilisation of the new facility.

For importers, exporters and businesses that rely on warehousing in Phnom Penh, the practical point is the prospect of materially more capacity with a defined target date. Until the station is operating, current logistics decisions still need to be based on infrastructure that is available today.

The project alone does not establish higher property values

A large logistics investment can be relevant context for industrial and warehouse areas around Phnom Penh, but it is not evidence by itself that nearby warehouse rents, land prices or residential values will rise.

Any property-market effect would depend on actual cargo volumes, occupancy, transport improvements, new industrial activity and the performance of the facility after opening. For now, the verified position is that the station is under development and the capacity increase is planned for June 2027.
