Nearly 3,000 job seekers secured work at Cambodia’s national job fair

Event date

The 35,000-vacancy headline needs context

Ahead of the fair, Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training said roughly 150 companies, enterprises and factories would bring more than 35,000 job opportunities. That figure described the vacancies offered by participating employers, not the number of positions already filled.

The closing results provide a clearer picture of what happened. Job seekers submitted around 20,000 CVs, employers conducted about 5,000 on-site interviews, and nearly 3,000 candidates secured jobs. The National Employment Agency said companies would continue recruiting after the two-day event ended.

Job Park made recruitment services part of the event

A new Job Park format brought several steps of the job search into one place: CV preparation and printing, career guidance, applications and immediate interviews with recruiting companies. The labour minister presented it as an early move toward bringing employment services closer to job seekers instead of relying only on people to approach agencies themselves.

The fair also had an online component through the National Employment Agency, allowing people who were not at the Koh Pich venue in Phnom Penh to access opportunities remotely during the event.

Foreign applicants still need vacancy-level checks

For job seekers, the strongest signal is not the size of the vacancy pool but the fact that thousands of interviews and placements took place. The published results, however, do not break down jobs by salary, occupation or applicant nationality, and they do not identify which roles were open to foreign nationals.

A foreign resident considering local employment should therefore treat the fair as evidence of active recruitment rather than as a list of jobs automatically available to them. Eligibility and any employment requirements still need to be checked against the individual vacancy and employer.
