Currency and payments
The rate on a screen is rarely the amount you will pay. In a transaction, the point is not to guess a currency move; it is to connect currency, rate, date, fee, recipient and payment condition to written records before money moves.
What does an official rate show — and what does it not show?
JISDOR is Bank Indonesia's official USD/IDR reference benchmark based on interbank spot transactions. It helps identify the benchmark behind a currency discussion and its date. It is not your bank's quote, does not include a spread or fees, and does not prove that a payment meets the contract conditions.
The short answer
Use an official reference as a control point, but make a payment decision from the signed condition and the specific bank quote on the date. Before transfer, the amount, currency, rate formula or rate source, cut-off date and time, all fees, parties, recipient and document that triggers payment should be named.
Evidence scope
- Checked on
- 2026-10-15
- Established
- JISDOR is a dated USD/IDR reference benchmark published by Bank Indonesia.
- Not established
- Rate, fees, timing, recipient and contractual permissibility of a particular transfer.
Rate date and basis are part of the price
‘At the day's rate’ is incomplete until it names source, time, time zone and the rule if the bank day differs from the contract day. JISDOR is published on business days as a reference series. That does not make it an automatic formula for every transaction. Ask for the exact wording before the amount is fixed.

Recipient and paper trail matter more than convenience
Do not transfer money on an oral assurance or a screenshot alone. Before every stage, match the contract, transaction party, recipient, bank details, payment purpose, amount, currency and triggering document. If any element changes, stop and request a written explanation and updated record.
Conversion is not return
A USD/IDR move can affect the total in your home currency. It does not establish a property's future price, rent, liquidity or investment result. Treat currency exposure as its own scenario line, not as a replacement for reviewing rights, costs and the asset.
