Tonle Basak is the official sangkat name within Chamkar Mon; Tonle Bassac is the spelling more often seen in English-language property marketing. As a practical orientation, the area runs south from the Sihanouk Boulevard side towards the Kbal Thnal approach and reaches the Bassac River and Koh Pich edge to the east. This is not a substitute for the official cadastral boundary. In day-to-day terms, the label covers several distinct settings: diplomatic and villa streets along Norodom, a denser mainland zone around Sothearos, AEON Mall Phnom Penh and Street 308, and the high-rise environment of Koh Pich, which the market often treats as its own location. Comparing properties without naming the micro-area can be misleading.
